Branching Out Client Newsletter – Marketing Communications

 

Situation

First Choice Tree Care serves all of central and southeast Wisconsin – more communities than any other Wisconsin tree-care company. The company is unique in that it employs only ISA-certified, career arborists. They serve as consultants providing expert advice to homeowners, businesses, municipalities and grounds managers.

 

Challenge

Vollrath Associates was challenged to increase awareness of First Choice Tree Care’s service offerings and position it as a leader in the tree-care industry and the go-to experts for any tree service needs.

 

Results

Vollrath Associates developed a client newsletter to inform the company’s 7,000 customers and interested individuals about seasonal tree care, services offered and useful information about tree health and planting. Through timely information and addressing important tree care issues, Branching Out successfully reaches First Choice Tree Care’s clients, building brand recognition, increasing service awareness and developing stronger relationships between clients and the company. After a recent survey, the newsletter’s content was rated by 97% of respondents as “Good,” “Very Good” or “Excellent.”

 

 

McCloud Services

Situation

McCloud Services, based in South Elgin, Ill., is the leader in food protection services throughout the chain of custody – from grain elevator to grocery store.  Serving the largest food-related brands in the U.S., the company has earned the reputation as the “food protection experts.”  McCloud Services has locations in 10 states with five service centers in Illinois.

 

Challenge

Vollrath Associates was challenged to generate awareness around its leading food protection services and food safety team.  In addition, the company was looking to enhance its marketing program to increase top-of-mind visibility through more consistent, ongoing communication among clients, potential clients, associates and the media.

 

Results

Vollrath Associates developed a detailed marketing communications plan composed of a variety of activities to strengthen the McCloud brand.  Through customer survey development and execution, ongoing media relations and proactive pitching, newsworthy media advisories and alerts, media training, copywriting, internal communications and oversight for all marketing and advertising materials, McCloud Services has become recognized among the media and the industry as experts in their industry.  By providing a more consistent and cohesive brand image, clients and associates recognize the McCloud name and the high-quality services it provides.

 

 

 

 

Veolia Environmental Services North America

Marketing Communications

 

Situation

Based in Chicago, Veolia Environmental Services North America (VESNA) helps customers in the industrial, commercial and governmental sectors safely manage waste, ensure compliance and maintain efficient operating processes. The company’s national service offering includes turn-key industrial cleaning and maintenance, and the treatment, recycling and disposal of hazardous and regulated wastes. VESNA is part of Veolia Environnement, the market leader for environmental services worldwide.

 

Challenge

Vollrath Associates was challenged to produce an employee newsletter that effectively informs employees about company-wide and business unit strategies, programs and activities and showcases outstanding employee accomplishments on the job and in their local communities. The newsletter is also designed to build awareness among employees that they are part of a larger, global environmental services company.

 

Results

Vollrath Associates developed the design and concept for the EcoSpeak newsletter to align with VESNA’s branding and corporate identity guidelines. Each quarter, we produce new issues of EcoSpeak for VESNA’s approximately 5,400 employees in the United States and Canada.  Our team works with VESNA’s communications coordinators to gather article information, conduct interviews and write and edit the articles. Since many employees work off-site at client locations, and to include families in the readership, the newsletter is sent directly to each employee’s home.

 

EcoSpeak has won numerous communications industry awards, including a platinum award in the 2012 MarCom Awards competition

 

In the most recent EcoSpeak survey, responses were very positive and readership (readers who read “all” or “most” of EcoSpeak) improved to 75%. Employees found EcoSpeak to be interesting – making for an easy, fun and informative read.
